Charity and not for profit
Supporting your charity or not for profit organisation aims is our passion. Our team works with diverse organisations across the UK.
We know that running a charity or not for profit organisation is not always straightforward. There are many regulations to follow and this can be an unwelcome distraction from the aims of your organisation – ‘to help others’.
You can be reassured that at HSA & Co we have all the financial, governance and management knowledge and experience your organisation needs, enabling you to concentrate on what is most important to you and your stakeholders.
By getting to know our clients, we find the right solutions, whatever you need.
Audits do not have to be onerous, and our approach is to assess the size and complexity of your organisation before we begin auditing; we want to really understand how your organisation operates.
Independent examination
To maintain public confidence in the work of charities, charity law requires most charities to have an external scrutiny of their accounts. Provided a charity is not required by law or its governing document to have an audit, then trustees may choose a simpler and less expensive form of external scrutiny, called an independent examination.
An independent examination is a simpler form of scrutiny than an audit, but it still provides trustees, funders, beneficiaries, stakeholders and the public with an assurance that the accounts of the charity have been reviewed by an independent person. All charities with an income of more than £25,000 that choose not to have an audit, must have an examination.
At HSA & Co we ensure your accounts are prepared in the correct format and relieve you of the regulatory burden, leaving you extra time to develop and expand your charity or ‘not for profit organisation’.
We have procedures and practices to ensure high quality service is delivered every time. Accounts are prepared in accordance with the relevant legislation for your organisation.
An Independent Examination will include:
- review of the accounting records kept by the charity
- comparison of the accounts presented with those records
- consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts
